The main problem for people visiting Tierra de Sol is finding the time to take advantage of all the different outdoor pursuits, a wide variety are catered for, with organizations committed to providing information to enable visitors to enjoy their favourite pastime in the warm and friendly environment of Calasparra. Photography in particular is very popular, special photographic routes have been designated- some pictures may be displayed at special exhibitions in the towns along the way, there are botanical trails where you can see a wide range of rare and beautiful plants and flowers, many unique to the region.
The natural beauty of the area is a photographers dream the flora and fauna are spectacular and varied such as eagles and vultures, rare orchards and wild herbs grow in abundance around the area. The local fiestas are colourful and interesting and certainly get a lot of attention from both local and visiting photographers alike. The local markets are also a place to click away.
There are walks organised by the local council which anyone can go, on these walks are graded by their difficulty and all abilities are catered for. People find these a good trip to take and can enjoy both the walk and the dramatic and beautiful scenery all around you. Your camera will never be off, as everywhere you look there is something to capture on film, Eagles in full flight, rare flora, wild life and wonderful old Spanish fincas.
Tierra de Sol (Land of sun) is nestled in the heart of the biggest natural park in Spain and one of the main natural parks in Europe, just outside the traditional town of Calasparra. Here the worlds finest rice is cultivated by traditional methods dating back to the times of the Moors.
In the regions rivers and reservoirs you can find a wide variety of fish such as ; trout, carp, barbel, lucio, and many more. Enthusiastic anglers themselves, the local people boast of catches of considerable size: all in all Tierra de Sol is a fisherman’s dream.
On every side as far as the eye can see there are green valleys like that of the Argos, and rugged mountains, like the massif of Revolcadores, the regions highest peak. There are also leafy woods surrounding Tierra de Sol.
Tierra de Sol is a place were you really can unwind,and is surrounded by all the beauties of nature in its most unspoiled state. Here you can live life to the full, taking part in the outdoor activities of every sort in radiant sunshine and enjoying good food and wine with some of the friendliest people around. Tierra de Sol is a place where day is a pleasure and there seems to be all the time in the world.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope, a sacred grotto, was carved out of the rocky banks of the River Segura and is a legend within Spain itself . Many devoted worshippers from all over the world visit the shrine.
